Questions

What does it cost?

The download is free. Over 30 fixes work for free, forever. A license unlocks the rest, over 70 in all. It costs $49, one time. No subscription, no renewal, no card on file.

What's the catch with the free version?

There isn't one. No countdown, no nag screens, no fake scan results. The free fixes are the ones you could do yourself through Windows Settings, plus all the antivirus and firewall checks. The paid fixes are the ones that usually mean a trip to a repair shop.

Is it safe?

It uses the repair tools already built into Windows. Every fix shows you the exact command before it runs, a risk label (Safe, Caution or Advanced), and how long it takes. Most fixes are Safe. The installer is signed by PCRescue Labs LLC, and you can check that yourself. See Download and install.

Why does Windows warn me when I download it?

Because it's new. Windows trusts programs that millions of people have already run. The warning fades as more people install it. It is not a virus warning. Here is how to get past it.

Does it collect my data?

No. The Kit has no telemetry and no account. It never connects to the internet on its own. Even the license check happens on your computer, offline. See the privacy page.

Will it make my old computer fast again?

Maybe faster. Not new. It finds what is actually slowing the machine and fixes what software can fix. When the real answer is a failing drive or not enough memory, it says so. No software can make a five year old laptop run like new, and anyone who says otherwise is selling something.

How is this different from CCleaner or the "PC optimizer" ads?

Those scan your PC, find thousands of "errors," and charge you every year to fix them. The Kit doesn't invent problems, doesn't charge yearly, and shows you every command it runs. It only uses tools Windows already has.

Does it work on a Mac?

No. Windows 10 and 11 only.

How do I get my license key?

Buy through Stripe. The key arrives by email within seconds. Check your spam folder if you don't see it. Paste the key into the Kit to unlock everything.

Do I get updates?

Yes. Updates are included for life. You never pay again.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. Within 30 days of buying, for any reason. Email me and I'll refund you. Details here.

Who makes it?

Me, Mike. I've run PCRescue, a computer repair shop in Portland, Maine, since 2002. The Kit is published by PCRescue Labs LLC. More about me.
